2014 Specialized Stumpjumper EVO 29

This stealthy hardtail is what happens when Specialized beefs up their already impressive Stumpjumper 29er. The EVO 29 is tweaked to be more of a fully capable trail bike than a race bike, but don't let that fool you — this bike still rips the local race course with a light, strong M5-aluminum frame that soars up the climbs and a Fox fork that offers 100mm of travel for the descents. The Roval wheels with fat Specialized tires spin like a dream and the Formula C1 discs with a 7-inch rotor up front provide confidence with power and modulation. You also get a slick 1x10 drivetrain with an X0 Type 2 rear derailleur. What's more, this 29er boasts a low bottom bracket height and short chainstays for perfect handling, whether you're on tight, twisty trails or high-speed flow fests. Let the EVOlution begin.

Ive been riding this bike for about 3 months now and I still cant think of a thing I would change. The 1X10 is fantastic with excellent power delivery. The Fox float fork is great for switching between uphill, downhill and cross country.

I'm really enjoying this bike. my other bike is full suspension and 11 pounds heavier. This lighter bike is more appropriate for the kind of riding I do. My typical terrain is very rocky and this bike handles it well.

Got my self one of these while on holiday in La Jolla in 2012. Got the guys at UCC to put a X9 2x10 on, in Matt black of course. A few dry rides around UCSD then lots of wet rides at home in Oslo. Not good. The rear hub started sounding like a cement mixer after a couple of rides, and the Elixir 7 brakes also make a racket, the front one juddering even with the lightest pressure. After much hassle Specialized Norway finally changed the rear boss last autumn after the end of the season. The new one is already making some noise...I notice that the 2013 SJ range have Magura brakes - no coincidence I'm sure. All that said the SJ Evo is the coolest looking bike in the forest and has a fantastic aggressive riding position. Would love it even more if it wasn't for the brakes and the defective rear hub. Get the 2013 Evo!

I just took this bad boy out for the first ride tonight and it was insanely fast. I really didn't realize how slow and heavy my Stumpjumper FSR Elite was until I bought this bike. It is super light, comfortable riding position and it makes you want to go faster. Go Tubeless and you'll be amazed what you can do with this bike!
