What an amazing bike!! The feel of the ride this bike has is just addicting! It runs through every hump and bump, and is just a complete beast of a machine. Not to mention it looks amazing, I bought the black/charcoal 2010 and it is just a phenomenal looking bike. Best buy ever!! Great components, smooth gear transitions, incredible braking, and awesome shocks, what a bike!

This is an update...I've had the bike almost a month, and I'm beginning to learn the bike. I've been out several times in various conditions. The bike is very well balanced, and is a pleasure to ride. I did not have enough knowledge to setup a modern suspension, so I asked a good friend of mine to help me. The bike had a good setup from the store (they set it to my weight), but now it's great. I've been riding my usual single track & fire roads. The steering handles quickly, not sketchy. I never felt like I was out of control. The suspension soaks up rocks, and roots, like they were not there (take into account that I've ridden trails which had rocks, not boulders). The 3, or 4, singletrack trails I've ridden are fairly technical, but not extreme. The bike climbs with very little effort, just pick the correct gear ratio, stay seated, and spin away. Where I've seen a huge improvement is on descents (compared to my '98 Stumpjumper - but any modern bike would be a huge improvement). The 2010 model gives me the confidence to take the trail a little faster, to go over rocks instead of trying to avoid them. The same trails, which I would avoid (or take with caution) a month ago, now seem to invite me. This bike has made me a better rider.

I'm 44 years old and ride an hour daily for exercise on the hiking trails in my neighborhood in El Dorado Hills, CA. I was looking to replace my 23 year-old mountain bike that I got when I was in college. [...] It came down to this bike (Stumpjumper FSR Comp) and the Stumpjumper FSR Elite. I ultimately chose the FSR Comp because it seemed like the most bike for the money and the extra features on the Stumpjumper Elite didn't make me excited about spending another $500.I did upgrade to metal pedals from the stock plastic ones that Brian warned me would break sooner or later. I will upgrade again from metal pedals to clip in pedals due to the higher speeds I am able to achieve riding this bike. My experience buying this bike is one of those where I spent a lot of money and feel like I got more than I paid for. Here's why:1. My daily ride includes a 3/4 mile stretch of street/side walk to get to the trail head. The pro-pedal feature is so efficient, I don't feel the need to lockout the suspension. I get the comfort of full suspension with hardtail-like efficiency riding on the street.2. I was shocked at how efficient this bike climbs hills and covers varied terrain. The suspension on this bike enables me to keep pushing the bike at faster speeds on the trail. I not only get a better aerobic workout because I'm able to remain engaged pedaling in rough areas where my old bike would rattle my teeth out, but I actually cut 12 minutes off my 60 minute circuit on my daily ride because of the way this bike handles the terrain.3. There is an old dirt path at the end of my street where I usually walk my dogs off leash. It contains two downhill sections, a couple of flat sections, and two climbs. I never took my old bike into this area because of the ruts, rocks, and general degraded nastiness of certain parts of the trail. It would not have been pleasant. I took my Stumpjumper FSR Comp around this 1 mile loop three times. Each new lap I was able to push the bike faster and harder. I was completely blown away. The bottom line on this bike: At 44 years of age, it makes me feel the way I felt riding my old bike at 30. It's that good.

I bought this stumpjumper 3 weeks ago after shopping for many months. This bike is great. I have been a road cyclist for 30 years, but am brand new to trail riding. I test road multiple bikes, but this one was sweet from my first test ride. This bike feels like a four wheel drive vehicle with power and suspension begging you to go explore. It has converted me to be off the roads and seek rough trails of rocks, roots, mud, and streams. I am a backcountry skier and this bike makes me just seek the backcountry like I do with my skis. The suspension is responsive and absorbing. Steering is sharp. Disc brakes keep you in control and very smooth. SRAM gears are quick, sharp and responsive. Tires give great traction through mud. Now this in the hands of a novice mountain biker. I look forward to growing my skills on this most enjoyable dialed in ride.

I bought my stumpjumper about two weeks ago at Incycle in San Dimas,California. I rode it a couple of times already and this bike is awesome it climbs and downhills with ease. I came off a Iron Horse hard tail and this is my first dual-suspension bike. The Avid hydraulic brakes stop with ease with no problem. I would recommend this bike for anyone looking for a light bike that handles climbing and downhilling.

I drove 7 hours to buy this bike and after my first ride I would do it all over again. The feel of this bike great and handles like a dream. Very light weight and durable, as I become more confidant I find myself getting more aggressive and this bike handles everything I can throw at it. [...]

I was blown away by how well it did in all types of terrane. Fast as hell on hard pack. On descents your speed is only limited by your own abilities. The brakes work great. Not too touchy just right. Climbing not a problem. I ride a lot of single track that can get real fast and tight, it handles great. The suspension...wow. just amazed how well it absorbed everything I went over, super smooth almost unfair . Shifts nice enough for me. Weak link the tires, just the side walls their to thin not rock friendly. They roll fast and, grabs a hold onto anything in turns roll over everything here. Just carful with sharp rocks. Overall great bike.

Just bought this bike and took it out yesterday and had a blast. I love how light it is and how it handles uphills with ease. This is by far the best bike I have had and Global bikes hooked me up with sweet deal on 08' model.
